1971-1975 Atlantic reanalysis before and after comparison
September 17, 2026 — The National Hurricane Center has completed its reanalysis for the 1971–1975 Atlantic Hurricane Seasons. More than 3,000 tweaks/changes were made, including some big ones.
  • EDITH 1971 downgraded from 160 mph C5 to 150 mph C4.
  • GINGER 1971 upgraded from 110 mph C2 to 115 mph C3, now a major hurricane.
  • Removal of 5 tropical depressions in the 1971 season.
  • DAWN 1972 downgraded from a 80 mph C1 to a 65 mph TS.
  • CHARLIE 1972 upgraded from a 70 mph TS to a 90 mph C1.
  • Removal of 2 tropical depression in the 1972 season.
  • DELIA 1973 upgraded from a 70 mph TS to a 85 mph C1.
  • TD (AL20) upgraded from 30 mph to a 70 mph TS.
